Knowing When To Cut Your Own Bangs

You might be wondering about the best time to do a DIY bang trim. As someone who has been successfully cutting her own bangs since high school, here is a primer.

Disclosure: "Success" means different things to different people. In this context, it means that hair was successfully made shorter in the forehead region of the head.

Good: After watching half of a youtube video on how to cut bangs. The video probably had very annoying music, or perhaps an exceedingly chipper vlogger instructing you. It's better that you didn't have to suffer through the whole thing.

Good: After drinking a lot of gin. The effects of the alcohol will be sure to quell a shaking hand, resulting in a more even cut. I didn't say beer though. Never cut your hair after drinking beer. Just kidding! I think you should!

Good: On a very, very boring evening. It will be sure to spice things up. N.B.: It could also be a somewhat boring evening.

Good: After opening the front facing camera on Snapchat and being blinded by a T.S. Eliot approved Waste Land of forehead. Bangs won't make you any more attractive but there's more to life than looks, Sonny Boy!

Good: After looking at a picture of Alexa Chung. She has a great personality. Maybe if you cut off some hairs a delightful personality like hers will spring up in their place. Haters of A.C. to the left (but thank you for your readership)!

Good: After looking at a picture of Bettie Page. You will be sure to cut the fringe far shorter than you intended to, which is actually great news because you will not have to touch up the cut for a few months.

Good: Right before your period when you are acting generally erratic. Actually not that good, but you will probably do it anyway, and I want you to feel supported.

It's that easy. Just remember your ABCBs: Always Be Cutting Bangs!
